Please provide a list of names for the membership, the membership level, and still fill in the necessary application forms. If you have additional questions, please contact our membership director, Mr. Nick Gromoff at groundtruth@sympatico.ca

Membership Categories

Professional

$75/yr or $180/3yrs)

A professional member receives all membership benefits, and has the right to vote in all APA matters and run for office. Applicants for this category must derive the majority of their income from the practice of archaeology. There are two ways to qualify:

Associate

($50/yr or $120/3yrs)

An associate member will receive the APA's newsletter and annual publication, but cannot vote or run for office. This category generally include: professionals in allied disciplines such as historical geography, or people who have been professional members but are currently retired or inactive in the field. Other archaeological professionals who are associate members will be urged to renew with professional status after a maximum of five years.

Field Director

($50/yr or $120/3yrs)

This new category created in July 2009 recognizes the importance of licenced Field Directors to our profession. Criteria are as follows:

1. Valid Ontario R licence for the initial application.

2. Your CV of experience.

3. $50 yearly membership or 3 years for $120. Field Director members will be voting professional members but may sit on the Executive only after achieving full professional status with a P licence.

A field director member will be appointed as liaison to the APA Executive. Please apply on-line or send your application to the Membership Director, Nick Gromoff.

Student

($20/yr)

A student member will receive the APA's newsletter and annual publication and receive member's discount on symposium and workshop attendance. This category includes: full time students in archaeology or other disciplines and graduates with a related degree currently working in the field. Although student members have no voting privileges, membership is an excellent opportunity for aspiring archaeologists to gain valuable experience and knowledge through their interaction with other members.

Institution

An institutional membership is not a voting membership, but does allow access to all portions of the members' only tabs. There is a developer tab specifically created to provide information with regards to conducting archaeological assessments. We encourage institutional members to draw on our membership list for consultants, as the APA has an ethics code that our members are obligated to follow. We also provide a members ad page, and a consultant list. We will, at no cost to institutional members, distribute RFP's to our members via email. If you have specific questions, you can contact us at info@apaontario.ca.

Application Procedure

Please note that professional applications can not be processed until points a-e (below) inclusive have been submitted. The membership director will contact applicants for professional memberships once reports are received, payment has been confirmed, the membership committee has met, and recommendations have been made to the APA executive regarding acceptance. Estimated turn around time, once points a-e have been submitted and received, is two to three weeks. The APA will not respond to incomplete applications/submissions. Please ensure points a-e are submitted to avoid delays in becoming an APA member. If your application is not approved, your money will be returned to you.
